CREATION

LIKE KINDRED, ALL ANGEL AND DEMON CHARACTERS MUST CHOOSE METAHUMAN PRIORITY A. characters THAT WISH TO EMPLOY MAGIC, AS APPROPRIATE TO THEIR CONCEPT, WOULD THEN CHOOSE PRIORITIES ACCORDINGLY, AS PER STANDARD RULES. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF INITIATIVE RATINGS, ANGEL AND DEMON CHARACTERS DO NOT RECEIVE ANY ATTRIBUTE MODIFIERS EXCEPT THOSE GAINED THROUGH DISCIPLINES.

DISCIPLINES

BOTH ANGEL AND DEMON CHARACTERS START WITH ACCESS TO ALL THREE PHYSICAL DISCIPLINES - CELERITY, FORTITUDE, AND POTENCE. ANGELS ALSO BEGIN WITH THE DIVINITY DISCIPLINE AND THE THAUMATURGY PATH OF CONDITIONING, LEVELS 1-4. DEMONS BEGIN WITH THE INFERNALIS DISCIPLINE AND GREATER DEMONS ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO THAUMATURGY, IF DESIRED. THE RULES FOR DISCIPLINE PROGRESSION ARE THE SAME AS FOR KINDRED CHARACTERS. MAXIMUM BONUSES FOR PHYSICAL DISCIPLINES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

FORCE RATINGS

LIKE SPIRITS, ANGEL AND DEMON CHARACTERS HAVE FORCE RATINGS, WHICH ARE PRIMARILY USED TO DETERMINE TARGET NUMBERS FOR BANISHING AND CONJURING TESTS. FORCE RATINGS WORK IN A SIMILAR MANNER TO POWER LEVELS USED BY KINDRED AND OTHER SPECIALTY CHARACTERS. HOWEVER, LIKE INITIATIVE MODIFIERS, FORCE RATINGS ARE BASED ON A CHARACTER'S "STATUS" WITHIN THEIR OWN RACIAL HIERARCHY, AS LISTED BELOW, AND ARE NOT INFLUENCED BY KARMA TOTALS.

BANISHING AND SUMMONING

BANISHING- THE ACT OF BANISHING, IN REGARDS TO DEMONS, FORCES THEM TO EXIT THE HOST BODY THAT THEY ARE CURRENTLY INHABITING. FOR THIS TEST, CHARACTERS ROLL THEIR CONJURING SKILL AGAINST A TARGET NUMBER OF FOUR (TWO FOR ANGELIC BEINGS). TO RESIST, THE DEMON ROLLS A NUMBER OF DICE EQUAL TO THEIR FORCE RATING (AS DESCRIBED above), ALSO AGAINST A TARGET NUMBER OF FOUR. IF THE CONJURING CHARACTER SCORES MORE SUCCESSES THAN THE DEMON, EACH NET SUCCESS DOES ONE BOX OF STUN DAMAGE, CAUSING THE DEMON TO START CHOKING AS THEY FIGHT TO REMAIN INSIDE THEIR HOST BODY. IF THE DEMON SUFFERS TEN OR MORE BOXES OF STUN DAMAGE (THIS DAMAGE CAN BE CUMULATIVE WITH DAMAGE TAKEN FROM OTHER WOUNDS), THEN THEY ARE FORCED OUT OF THEIR HOST BODY VIA "SMOKING OUT". THIS ACTION DOES NOT ACTUALLY KILL THE DEMON, THOUGH DAMAGE OVERFLOW IS CALCULATED NORMALLY, AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE DEATH TO THE HOST BODY. SHOULD THE DEMON CHARACTER SCORE MORE SUCCESSES THAN THE CONJURER, THEN THE ATTACK IS CONSIDERED A "MISS" AND THE DEMON IS UNAFFECTED.

SUMMONING- CHARACTERS MAY USE THIS ABILITY TO SUMMON BOTH DEMONS AND ANGELS ALIKE. TO MAKE A SUMMONING TEST, CHARACTERS ROLL THEIR CONJURING SKILL AGAINST A TARGET NUMBER OF FOUR, AS PER BANISHING. LIKEWISE, THE CHARACTER BEING SUMMONED ROLLS A NUMBER OF DICE EQUAL TO THEIR FORCE RATING, ALSO AGAINST A TARGET NUMBER OF FOUR. THE SUMMONING CHARACTER MUST SCORE AT LEAST FOUR NET SUCCESSES OVER THE TARGET IN ORDER FOR THE RITUAL TO BE SUCCESSFUL. FEWER THAN FOUR SUCCESSES MEANS THAT THE SUMMONING FAILS, WHICH MAY HAVE OTHER CONSEQUENCES OF ITS' OWN (SEE CHART BELOW). IN SOME INSTANCES, MULTIPLE CHARACTERS MAY WISH TO COMBINE THEIR EFFORTS TO ATTEMPT THE SUMMONING OF A PARTICULAR TARGET. IN THIS CASE, THE CHARACTER WITH THE HIGHEST CONJURING SKILL ACTS AS THE "LEAD" SUMMONER, USING THEIR SKILL RATING, PLUS HALF THE RATING (ROUNDED DOWN) OF EACH ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANT IN THE SUMMONING, FOLLOWING THE SAME SYSTEM AS ABOVE. GAMEMASTERS MAY REQUIRE THE USE OF ONE OR MORE SPECIFIC COMPONENTS FOR ANY SUMMONING RITUAL, AT THEIR DISCRETION.
